Security guard dies in gun misfire at Khairatabad Mint Compound

Hyderabad: A gun misfired at the Khairatabad Mint Compound in the city on Thursday, resulting in the unfortunate death of constable Ramaiah, who served as a security guard at the printing press within the mint compound.

According to Saifabad inspector Sattaiah, the gun misfired while Ramaiah was cleaning it. Following the mishap, Ramaiah, who sustained severe injuries, was shifted to Nampally Care Hospital under the supervision of authorities. Unfortunately, doctors at the hospital declared him dead upon arrival.

Ramaiah, a 46-year-old head constable of the Special Protection Force, was on duty at the time of the incident. His body was transferred to Osmania Hospital for post-mortem examination.

Saifabad police and the Clues team arrived at the scene to thoroughly examine the area. Saifabad CI Sattaiah personally inspected the location where the misfire occurred, while Saifabad ACP Sanjay Kumar and CI Sattaiah questioned the security personnel at the printing press regarding the incident.

A case has been registered at Saifabad police station and is currently under investigation, Saifabad police said.
