Seven arrested for gambling on Kukatpally hostel penthouse; Rs 97,370 cash seized

Hyderabad: The Kukatpally Police arrested seven persons for allegedly gambling with cards (teen patti) at a hostel penthouse in Kukatpally.

The raid led to the seizure of Rs 97,370 in cash, seven mobile phones and a pack of 52 playing cards.

Case details

The arrested persons were identified as: Laxman Prasad Joshi (40), Gurkha, resident of Sanjaypuri Colony, Jagadgirigutta, Bogati Yogendra (34), private employee, resident of Netaji Nagar, Erragadda.

Hikmat Bahadur Bogati (36), watchman, resident of Kukatpally; native of Achham district, Nepal, Bharath Prasad Dhamala (30), security guard, resident of Krishna Nagar Colony, Begumpet.

Purna Prasad Jaisi (43), watchman, resident of Road No.36, Jubilee Hills, Amar Kunwar (50), watchman, resident of Kukatpally, and Nirpa Bahadur Thakulla (32), security guard, resident of Basheerbagh, Himayathnagar.

Case registered; further probe on

Police have registered a case under the relevant sections related to gambling activities. Investigators are verifying whether the accused were part of a larger network operating in the area.

The Kukatpally Police stated that strict surveillance will continue to curb illegal gaming and betting activities in hostels and residential localities.

Raid led by Kukatpally Crime Team

Acting on the directions of K Suresh Kumar, IPS, DCP Balanagar Division, and under the supervision of KV Subbarao, SHO Kukatpally Police Station, the operation was carried out by the Kukatpally Crime Team led by Detective Inspector M Kondala Rao.

The team, which included SI Ravinder Reddy and police constables G Krishna, Nagarjuna Reddy, and Azam, raided the penthouse of Laxmi Hostel around 10 pm on Saturday, catching the suspects red-handed while gambling.
