Shamirpet police seize 350 kg ganja, arrest 6 drug peddlers
The gang used to purchase ganja at Rs. 1,500 per kg and sell it at Rs. 20,000 per kg.
By Newsmeter Network Published on 2 Aug 2022 11:27 AM GMTHyderabad: Six interstate drug peddlers from Maharashtra and Odisha who were trying to illegally transport ganja from Sherpally in Odisha to Solapur in Maharashtra via Hyderabad were arrested in Shamirpet with 350 kgs of ganja.
Besides the ganja, the police seized two cars and six mobile phones from them. The net worth of the seized items amounted to Rs. 80 lakhs.
The arrested persons have been identified as Narsingh Madi, Ravi Dhansingh Chauhan, Kiran Ram Pawar, Vikas Mansingh Chauhan, Adesh Shanth Kumar Jadha, and Sarjirao Kishan Chauhan.
The main receiver is Ravi Dhansingh Chauhan (37) from Solapur, Maharashtra, and the main supplier is Narsingh Madi (32) from Malkangiri, Odisha.
On 1 August, at around 7 p.m, the joint team of SOT Balanagar zone and the Shamirpet police arrested Ravi, Narsingh, Vikas, and Adesh Shanth Kumar who were escorting a Bolero car near ORR. Upon inquiry, they revealed the details of the vehicle. Immediately, Kiran and Sarjirao were traced and the Bolero loaded with dry ganja was seized.

Modus operandi
The six men have been transporting ganja from the Sherpally agency area of Odisha to Solapur in Maharashtra via Hyderabad.
Ravi Chauhan transports and sells the ganja with the help of Kiran, Vikas, Adesh, and Sarjirao. Ravi, Kiran, and Sarjirao transport the drug from the Odisha agency area to Maharashtra. Meanwhile, Narsing procures ganja from local cultivators around the Sherpally agency area of Odisha and supplies it to ganja sellers in different states.
According to their plan, Ravi contacted Narsingh and offered to buy 800 kgs of dry ganja; the latter arranged for 350 kgs of dry ganja. Ravi, Vikas, and Sarjirao went to the Sherpally agency area in two vehicles and parked them at a remote place. Narsingh took away the Bolero and loaded 175 packets of ganja (2 kgs each). Later, he parked the Bolero at the same place.
The gang was arrested while trying to transport the ganja to Solapur, Maharashtra.
