Srikakulam: A minor feud over sharing of fish curry led to the murder of a 50-year- old man in Avalingi village under Saravakota Mandal in Srikakulam district.

Though the incident took place on January 22, it came to light on Sunday morning after the police arrested seven persons.

The deceased has been identified as Paramuri Prasad, 50, a native of Kakinada. His friend Ganta Panduranga Rao has been named as prime accused in the case.

Police said that Ganta Panduranga Rao, who hailed from Kakinada had come to Avalingi three months ago to work as a laborer for the construction of a drinking water tank near Buditi in Saravakota Mandal. He was putting up in a rented house at Avalingi.

Panduranga recently went to his hometown for the Sankranti festival. When he returned, he brought his acquaintance Palamuri Prasad along.

On the night of the incident, Prasad, along with two others made fish curry for dinner and consumed alcohol.

However, a dispute arose between Panduranga Rao and Prasad over the fish curry. In a fit of rage Panduranga, who was in an inebriated condition, hit Prasad with a wooden log.

The accused along with six others took the body in a garbage tricycle and buried it near the lake embankment.

When the news spread, villagers informed the police. Prasad's body was exhumed in the presence of Tahsildar Rajamohan. Later, the body was shifted to Government Hospital in Pathapatnam for post mortem.

Police said a case has been registered against Panduranga Rao and six others from Avalingi village.
