Hyderabad: Folk singer Mangli approached Panjagutta Police Station with a complaint alleging criminal intimidation, abuse and extortion against one Singapogu Subbu, even as a counter-complaint accusing her of a Rs 10 crore fraud has also come to light.

Extortion and threat allegations

According to the complaint, Mangli (Satyavathi Mudavath) stated that the incident occurred on March 22, around 4 pm, when she visited an advocate’s office.

She alleged that Singapogu Subbu, who was present there along with three others, falsely introduced himself as an advocate and began behaving inappropriately.

She further alleged that Subbu demanded Rs 10 lakh from her, claiming he would remove certain videos related to her from YouTube, Instagram and other social media platforms.

Abuse and criminal intimidation claims

Mangli stated that upon refusing to pay the amount, Subbu and his associates allegedly used abusive language and threatened her with reputational damage through media platforms.

She accused them of creating a nuisance and attempting to extort money under threat.

Calling the acts criminal intimidation, extortion and harassment, she urged the police to take strict legal action against the accused.

Counter-complaint of fraud

In a parallel development, a separate complaint has reportedly been filed at the same police station by an advocate, Subba Rao, alleging that Mangli was involved in cheating to the tune of Rs 10 crore under the guise of microfinance activities.
