Skink found in puff: Jadcherla Bakery sealed, case registered
Mahbubnagar: A bakery in Jadcherla was sealed and booked under food safety laws after a woman found a skink (a type of lizard) inside a vegetarian puff she had purchased.
The Mahbubnagar district administration has also initiated penal action against the establishment under the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) provisions.
Shocking find at home
The incident occurred when Srisaila, a resident, bought two vegetarian puffs from a bakery located opposite the Jadcherla police station.
Upon opening the packet at home, she was horrified to see a skink on one of the puffs. She immediately approached the police and filed a formal complaint.
Inspection reveals expired ingredients
āWe received a complaint from Srisaila and referred the matter to District Food Inspector V Neelima. An inspection revealed that expired ingredients were being used in the preparation of baked goods. Penal action was initiated as per FSSAI norms,ā said Jadcherla Inspector B Kamalakar.
Bakery shut, public alert issued
Acting on instructions from higher officials, the bakery was sealed until further notice.
The district administration has warned that strict action will be taken against any shop or bakery selling substandard food and urged the public to report such cases to the nearest police station or food safety inspector.
