Hyderabad: A 24-year-old software employee has filed a complaint with the Panjagutta police, alleging harassment and misconduct by a Rapido bike taxi driver on the evening of February 21.

According to the Panjagutta police, the woman booked a Rapido ride from her residence in Tarnaka to Erramanzil Mall in Panjagutta. Upon arrival, the driver allegedly made her uncomfortable by instructing her to move her bag from the middle of the seat to the rear.

The situation escalated when the driver, approximately 300 meters away from the destination, abruptly stopped the bike and demanded that she walk the remaining distance.

When the woman refused to pay the fare, citing the driver’s failure to drop her at the designated location, an argument ensued. The driver allegedly threatened her and forcibly pulled her bag, demanding payment.

Despite her refusal, he eventually allowed her back on the bike but continued to verbally abuse her throughout the remainder of the ride.

The woman stated that the driver deliberately dropped her in a lane near the mall instead of the designated parking area. When she confronted him, he reportedly used derogatory language and insults, prompting her to slap him.

In response, the driver allegedly slapped her back and continued to shout, demanding payment. The woman managed to take photographs of the driver’s bike and obtained his vehicle and phone details through Rapido’s support system.

She also attempted to call the police, but the driver fled the scene before they could arrive.

The Panjagutta police have registered the case under 74, 115(2), 79 BNS, which is currently under investigation.
