Son stages robbery at his own house in Visakhapatnam; police arrest four and recover cash, gold
Visakhapatnam : Days after robbery in Kancharapalem, Visakhapatnam City Police have solved a sensational case that shocked, arresting the main accused — the victim’s own son — along with his three accomplices.
Addressing the media, City Police Commissioner Shankhabrata Bagchi revealed the details.
Dharmala Ananda Reddy, a resident of Indiranagar in Kancharapalem and a GVMC contractor, recently went to Hyderabad to attend an event on October 4. Taking advantage of his father’s absence, his son Krishnakanth (24), who had suffered heavy losses in online trading and was deeply in debt, hatched a plan to rob his own house with the help of his friends — Parapathi Pramod Kumar (30), Sheikh Abhishek (21), and A Satyasurya Kumar (22).
As per their plan, on the night of October 5, the trio entered Ananda Reddy’s house wearing masks. They tied the hands and legs of Krishnakanth and his grandmother Yellamma, wrapping their faces with plastic tape. To mislead the victims, the accused spoke in Hindi to appear as outsiders. They then looted gold ornaments and cash before escaping in a car.
After abandoning the vehicle at Marikavalasa, the gang travelled to the RTC Complex by auto, then fled to Vijayawada and later to Hyderabad.
Meanwhile, Krishnakanth filed a police complaint, pretending ignorance of the incident.
Following an in-depth investigation, the police uncovered Krishnakanth’s role as the mastermind and arrested all four accused. The police nabbed the four while they were sharing the stolen amount.
The police seized ₹10 lakh in cash, 12 tolas of gold ornaments, and a car from their possession.
