Visakhapatnam: Vizag police have seized 211 motorbikes which were used for illegal racing in the city.
Of the 211 seized motorcycles, 150 were high-end speed bikes. Many vehicles were found to be without number plates or improper plates and documents.
DCP (Law and Order) Aishwarya Rastogi said that speed racing and rash driving not only endangers the life of the rider but also the pedestrians on the roads.
The majority of the motorists, who indulged in illegal racing, were in the age group of 18-25 years. They have been using WhatsApp groups for organizing illegal bike racing in the city.
Some youngsters, the police observed, indulged in illegal bike racings especially on the Beach Road breaking road safety norms.
Police said that they will call the families of the youngsters and ask them to furnish an undertaking that they would not allow their children to indulge in bike racing.
"If the same person is caught again, he will be arrested", police said.
