Srikakulam: A 50-year-old Armed Reserve head constable ended his life in a dilapidated building near his office at Etchera in the Srikakulam district.

The deceased has been identified as Marripadu Subba Rao. Police said Rao took the extreme step after attending the roll call.

Sub-Inspector of Etcherla, K Ramu said the investigation has revealed that Rao was addicted to liquor and often fought with his family over trivial issues.

On Sunday, Rao consumed more alcohol than his regular quota during the local festival. He picked up a quarrel with his family members. Rao's wife and his son, who is also an AR police constable, allegedly admonished him for spending too much money on liquor.

Police did not find any suicide note.

His body was shifted to the government hospital for post-mortem. A case was registered under Section 174 of CrPC, police added.

It may be recalled that two days ago, 34-year-old Sub-Inspector Muttavarapu Gopala Krishna attached to the Sarpavaram police station in Kakinada district ended his life.
