The accused has been identified as Yadava Ganesh, a native of Kalisettibadi village under Cheepurupalle Mandal in Vizianagaram district.
The deceased has been identified as Burle Nagaraju, a native of Devarapalle village in the Srikakulam district.
Nagaraju's throat-slit body was found near a hill at Devarapalle on October 27.
DSP of Srikakulam, M Mahesh said that Nagaraju's wife is a native of Kalisettibadi, which is also the hometown of the main accused Ganesh. Nagaraju met Ganesh at Kalisettibadi a few years ago.
Nagaraju had taken a loan of Rs 45,000 from Ganesh around six months ago for his wife's treatment. Nagaraju didn't pay any interest to Ganesh despite repeated requests. He also refused to pay the principal amount.
Ganesh had told Nagaraju to pay the entire amount within a few days but Nagaraju did not pay heed. Later Ganesh decided to eliminate Nagaraju for not paying the loan. He invited Nagaraju for a liquor party near a hill at Devarapalle. He hit Nagaraju with a wood log and later slit his throat. The accused also decamped with his mobile phone.
"We got some clues at the crime spot and nabbed the accused on Monday night," said Mahesh.
