Srikakulam: Two youth gets 20 years rigorous imprisonment for raping 12YO

Srikakulam, January 23: A POCSO court sentenced two youth to 20 years in jail for raping a 12-year-old girl in Srikakulam.
Special judge for POCSO Court in Srikakulam K Sridevi on Monday sentenced two youngsters Lutta Anil Kumar (26) and Pamoti Ravi (20) to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment for raping a 12-year-old girl. The court also asked them to pay Rs three lakh compensation to the victim.
Police said in December 2020, the girl had gone to the accused Anil Kumar’s home in the Srikakulam district to watch TV. Anil Kumar took her to another room and raped her. He threatened and raped her three to four times. Later she became pregnant.
In June 2021, the victim was raped by Pamoti Ravi when the girl was collecting firewood in the village. The girl was admitted to a hospital, where the doctors aborted her fetus and informed the police.
Based on the complaint from the girl’s father, the G Sigadam police led by Sub-Inspector MA Ahmed registered a case. Later the case was investigated by the Deputy Superintendent of Police of Disha Police Station, S Vasudev. Police nabbed the accused and filed cases under section 376 of IPC and relevant sections under POCSO-Act-2012.
Police completed the investigation and filed the charge sheet against the accused persons. After regular hearings, special public prosecutor P Venkata Ramana Murthy proved the guilt of the accused.Srikakulam: Two youth gets 20 years rigorous imprisonment
