Srikakulam: A 12-year-year-old brave-heart lost her life when she jumped into the stream to save her sister from drowning at Kasirajukasipuram village in Srikakulam district. The incident happened on Sunday when the children were playing near the stream during Dasara vacation.

According to the Nandigam sub-inspector Muhammad Amir Ali, Mother Tulasamma, along with her two daughters, Harika (12), and Jahnavi (6) went to the stream. While her mother was busy washing clothes, the kids were playing with the water. Jahnavi slipped and drowned in the six feet stream.,

Harika jumped into the stream to rescue her younger sister. Though she saved her sister, she was swept away by strong currents. Tulsamma and her husband Krishna Rao tried to rescue Harika but to no avail.

Nandigam police visited the spot and shifted the body to Tekkali District Hospital for a post-mortem. A case has been registered.
