Madanapalle: In a brutal incident, a stalker attacked a 22-year-old woman by stabbing her and throwing acid on her face. The incident happened on Friday in Annamayya district. She has been admitted to the hospital with severe injuries.

According to Annamayya district superintendent of police B Krishna Rao, the accused Ganesh (24) from Madanapalle attacked the woman around 7 am on Friday at Perampalli village of Gurramkonda Mandal when her parents were away tending to cattle.

The police said that the girl was in a relationship with the accused but got engaged to another person recently and was set to get married in April.

The attack happened when the woman called him home to tell him that she could not continue the relationship anymore. Their talk ended up in an argument and Ganesh stabbed her and attacked her with acid.

The accused is absconding and police teams are set up to nab him.

Meanwhile, the police shifted the injured woman to a hospital in Bengaluru for better treatment following preliminary treatment locally.

Condemning the attack, chief minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu directed officials to take stringent action against the attacker. He asked the officials to shift the girl to a better hospital in Bengaluru for advanced treatment.
