`Stressed out' Star Hospital manager ends life at Gandipet
By Newsmeter Network Published on 22 May 2021 4:00 AM GMTHyderabad: A senior manager at Star Hospital ended his life at his residence in Gandipet on Friday. Identified as Pokala Harish Kumar, he is suspected to have taken the extreme step due to the work pressure.
Pokala Harish Kumar, his wife Laxmi Prasanna along with their two children were putting up at Stonehenge Apartment in Snehitha Hills at Gandipet village under Narsingi police station. Harish was working at Star Hospital, Banjara Hills for the past four months, while Laxmi Prasanna is working in Bank of America.
On Wednesday, after returning home from work, he informed his wife that he was not feeling well and will not go to work on Thursday. At around 4.45 am on Friday, he woke up his wife and asked her to get him water for taking tablets. He took tablets and went to the washroom, while his wife went to sleep again.
Around 5.30, she woke up to the alarm but did not find Harish by her side. She went around the house searching for him and found him hanging from the ceiling fan in another bedroom. She immediately informed her mother-in-law and with a neighbor's help brought him down.
Later, she called up a doctor who resides in the same apartment. But by the time he arrived, Harish had died. Harish was using anti-depressant tablets for the past few days to overcome stress. Laxmi Prasanna in her complaint stated that he could have taken the extreme step due to work stress.
