Vizianagaram: Massive protests rocked AP Model School Sandhya Rani at Bhogapuram after a student ended his life. A large number of students assembled on the campus and demanded action against the principal on Monday.
They alleged that she was responsible for the suicide of a class-IX student on Saturday. The principal was suspended late on Sunday evening following an inquiry. Students said the principal gave corporal punishment to the student and made him kneel for using a mobile phone.
It may be recalled that the principal got angry when she found a student showing off his new mobile phone to his friends. He was taking selfies with his friends when the principal passed by.
The principal alleged that he was taking pictures of girl students and immediately decided to issue TC. When the boy's father came to school, he was upset to see his son kneeling and begging for pardon.
He also requested the principal to show mercy treating it as a first offense. The principal remained adamant and issued the TC. The father got enraged with the boy and admonished him. While going home, the boy ran away and went missing. In the evening his body was found near the school.
"We conducted an inquiry and placed the principal under suspension. We will submit the report to the higher officials soon,'' the RJD said.
