The alleged bribe demand came to light when the complainant Anjaiah, a document writer and agriculturalist, approached the officer for registering a gift deed in the name of his friend. The complainant said that he approached the in-charge sub-registrar through his subordinate (outsourced), Kothakonda Sridhar. The gift deed of four guntas of land was to be transferred on paper from Ajayās father to Ajay.
Anjaiah was told that he was asked to pay a bribe to complete the registration. He then approached Karimnagar ACB to solve the issue. A tainted bribe amount of Rs 10,000 was recovered from the possession of Kothakonda Sridhar at his residence. A chemical test conducted over the right-hand fingers of Sridhar yielded a positive result. The AO performed their public duty improperly and dishonestly to obtain undue advantage, the ACB said.
Suresh Babu and Sridhar were arrested and produced before a special judge for SPE & ACB cases at Karimnagar. The case is under investigation.
