Substandard Fenia racket busted in Hyderabad, man arrested; ₹3.98 lakh stock seized

Hyderabad: The Commissioner’s Task Force (Golconda Zone) along with Kulsumpura Police busted an illegal food manufacturing unit in Jiyaguda and arrested one person for allegedly producing and supplying substandard fenia/pheniyaan products in unhygienic conditions, endangering public health.

Goods and equipment worth Rs 3,98,590 were seized during the raid.

Accused arrested

The accused has been identified as Dhanraj Puri (36), son of Jagdesh Puri, a resident of Gowliguda, Hyderabad. He was operating under the name “JB Foods” from a warehouse located near the Double Bedroom Houses in Jiyaguda.

Police said the accused was manufacturing substandard fenia/pheniyaan without adhering to food safety norms or possessing valid FSSAI permissions.

Raid based on Tip-Off

Acting on credible information, the Task Force team, under the supervision of Additional DCP Ande Srinivasa Rao, conducted a raid on the warehouse. Officials found large quantities of adulterated and low-quality food products being prepared in unhygienic conditions.

Investigators revealed that the accused was allegedly using low-grade refined flour (maida) and vanaspati (dalda) to manufacture fenia products, which were then supplied to local stores.

Authorities warned that consumption of such substandard products could lead to serious health complications.

Items seized

During the raid, police seized:

06 boxes (20 kg) of substandard fenia/pheniyaan

16 boxes (25 kg each) of substandard fenia/pheniyaan

01 box (5 kg) of substandard fenia/pheniyaan

150 kg loose substandard fenia

16 boxes (80 kg) of loose fenia in bowls

19 bags (950 kg) of refined flour (Anjani Maida)

54 boxes (810 kg) of Ruchi No-1 vanaspati

46 boxes (690 kg) of Himani Bake Magic vanaspati

180 kg of ghee mixture kept on stove

One dough mixer machine

Two weighing machines

19 partially used HP gas cylinders

The total value of seized property is estimated at ₹3,98,590.

Case registered

A case has been registered at Kulsumpura Police Station under Crime No. 61/2026 under Sections 318(4) and 275 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Further investigation is underway.

The operation was conducted under the supervision of Additional DCP Ande Srinivasa Rao, with Inspector R. Venkatesh (Golconda Zone Task Force), Inspector A. Ramulu (Kulsumpura), SI K. Venkatramana (Task Force), SI B. Bhaskar Rao (Kulsumpura), and their staff.

Police reiterated that strict action will be taken against those involved in manufacturing and selling adulterated food products that pose a threat to public health.
