Anakapalle, April 18: A girl slit the throat of her fiancé to avoid marriage. The incident occurred near Saibaba Hill at Kommalapudi village under Ravikamatham Mandal in Anakapalle district on Monday evening.
Identified as Ramu Naidu, he was admitted to a private hospital at Anakapalle where his condition is said to be critical.
Police said Ramu Naidu, a native of Paderu of Alluri Sitarama Raju district, is working in a private firm in Hyderabad. Naidu's parents had fixed his marriage with the girl from Kommalapudi village.
The engagement was held recently and the marriage was slated for April 28.
The girl, who reportedly was not happy, invited Naidu to her village. She took her to Saibaba Hill on the pretext of giving him a surprise.
She asked Naidu to close his eyes for a surprise. When he closed his eyes, the girl slit his throat with a knife. After noticing the incident, locals rushed to the spot and shifted the injured to the hospital.
Police have registered a case and took the accused girl into custody for interrogation.
