Suryapet: DSP Parthasarathi, Inspector Raghavaulu arrested for soliciting Rs 16L bribe

Suryapet: Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Nalgonda Unit has arrested Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) K. Parthasarathi and Inspector P. Veera Raghavaulu from Suryapet district for soliciting a bribe of Rs 16 lakh.

In a statement, ACB said the officers had initially demanded Rs 25 lakh, which was later reduced to Rs 16 lakh following negotiations.

The bribe was allegedly sought in return for issuing a notice, rather than making an arrest, in a case registered at Suryapet II Town Police Station. Additionally, the officers assured the complainant that their scanning centre would be allowed to operate without interference.

The ACB charged both officials with abuse of official position and conducting their duties in a dishonest and improper manner, in violation of anti-corruption laws.

Following their arrest, the accused were presented before the II Additional Judge for SPE and ACB cases at Nampally, Hyderabad. The investigation is currently ongoing.
