Adilabad: Authorities in Jainoor mandal suspended a government teacher on Thursday after he allegedly attended school in an inebriated state and neglected his duties.
The incident occurred at the Ashram High School (AHS) in Sukuthpalli village under the Asifabad district.
Came drunk and slept during school hours
Residents of Sukuthpalli complained that J Vilas, serving as a Secondary Grade Teacher (SGT), had come to class intoxicated and slept during school hours.
Alarmed by the misconduct, villagers reported the matter to the Tribal Welfare Department, demanding immediate action.
Dereliction of duty and violation of service norms
District Tribal Welfare Deputy Director Ramadevi said an inquiry was ordered following the complaint.
Based on the findings and directions from the Project Officer, suspension orders were issued against Vilas for dereliction of duty and violation of service norms.
Surprise inspections coming
Officials emphasised that negligence, absenteeism without permission, or violation of discipline would not be tolerated.
Surprise inspections are planned across schools under the Tribal Welfare Department to ensure teachers maintain punctuality, classroom discipline and professional conduct.

The department reiterated its commitment to uphold teaching standards in tribal welfare institutions, assuring parents and local communities that strict measures will be enforced to prevent recurrence of such incidents.
