Telangana ACB booked 19 cases in May; 25 govt employees held in crackdown on corruption

Hyderabad: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), Telangana, registered 19 new cases in May as part of its ongoing efforts to tackle corruption in public service.

Among the cases were 14 cases of officials being ā€˜trapped’, four criminal misconduct cases, and one surprise check, leading to the arrest and judicial remand of 25 public servants.

More than Rs 3 lakh in bribe recovered

As a result of these operations, the bureau seized Rs 3,63,000 in bribe amounts during trap cases conducted across the State. In addition to its enforcement activities, the ACB also made significant progress in closing investigations.

The bureau finalised 33 cases in May and 16 in April, forwarding the final reports to the government. In total, 112 cases were closed between January and May 2025, reflecting an intensified push to clear the backlog.

On May 30, director general, ACB Telangana, Hyderabad, convened a crime review meeting to assess long-pending cases. Investigating Officers were directed to expedite investigations and submit progress reports promptly to the head office.

ACB office opened for Adilabad range

In a move aimed at improving accessibility and outreach in northern Telangana, the Director, ACB also inaugurated a new ACB office for the Adilabad Range at Mancherial on May 1.

The new facility will serve the public in Mancherial and Komaram Bheem-Asifabad districts, facilitating quicker response and engagement in corruption-related complaints.

The ACB reiterated its commitment to maintaining transparency and accountability in public administration and encouraged citizens to come forward with credible complaints against corrupt practices.
