Telangana ACB seizes Rs 97,880 unaccounted cash from Bibi Nagar, Jadcherla, Sadashivapet sub registrar offices

Telangana ACB raids three Sub-Registrar Offices, seizes Rs 97,880 unaccounted cash

Hyderabad: Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) seized Rs 97,880 unaccounted cash during surprise inspections at three Sub-Registrar Offices (SROs) across the state on Thursday.

The raids also exposed the presence of unauthorised agents and serious administrative lapses.

Bibi Nagar SRO: Rs 61,430 seized, CCTV non-functional

At the Sub-Registrar Office in Bibi Nagar, Nalgonda district, the ACB team seized Rs 61,430 in unaccounted cash. Officials found 12 unauthorised private agents/document writers operating within the office premises.

Additionally, 93 registered documents, which were supposed to be dispatched, were found with the SRO staff. CCTV cameras were non-functional, and several government registers were not maintained.

Jadcherla SRO: Rs 30,900 seized, 11 agents found

During the inspection at the Jadcherla SRO in Mahabubnagar district, officials seized Rs 30,900 in unaccounted cash. The team found 11 unauthorised private agents/document writers within the premises.

They also found 20 registered documents, meant for dispatch, in the custody of staff, and noted that several key records were not maintained as mandated.

Sadashivapet SRO: Rs 5,550 seized, cash variations detected

At the Sub-Registrar Office in Sadashivapet, Medak district, unaccounted cash of Rs 5,550 was seized. The ACB found 9 unauthorised private agents/document writers operating inside.

Officials also detected variations in the personal cash of staff with entries in the personal cash register, and 39 registered documents pending dispatch were retained by staff.

CCTV cameras were non-functional, and several government registers were not maintained.

Report to Government for further action

The ACB stated that several other irregularities were observed during these inspections, and a detailed report will be sent to the government for initiating necessary departmental action against the concerned officials.
