Telangana Govt employees being extorted by fake ACB officials; department issues warning
Telangana: The sleuths of the Anti Corruption Bureau, Telangana, in a public notice, cleared the air that the department doesnāt call government employees to demand money in the name of some case. Following the recent incidents of extortion, the ACB has taken note and issued a clarification.
It has come to our notice that some private persons are making fake calls in the name of ACB officials and threatening public servants by demanding money for not registering cases against them. A case was registered at the Rachakonda Cyber Crimes Police Station about such an incident.
In this regard, the ACB director general informed the public that ACB officials would never call public servants asking for money in exchange for not registering cases against them.
Employees should not believe such calls or make payments to such fake callers, he said.
āAny person, whether a public employee or not, receives such fake calls from people claiming to be from the ACB, please contact the ACB toll-free number 1064 immediately and inform the local police station also,ā the ACB director general said.
ACB Telangana can also be contacted through social media platforms, i.e. WhatsApp (9440446106), Facebook (Telangana ACB), and X (formerly twitter) (@TelanganaACB). The name and details of the complainant/victim will be kept confidential.
