Hyderabad: Telangana High Court has restrained police from arresting V. Srikanth Goud alias Virusanolla Srikanth Goud, brother of former Minister of Tourism and Excise in the BRS government.
However, the court directed the police to go ahead with the investigation
Justice K. Surender was adjudicating the plea seeking quashing of FIR registered against the minister's brother in crime 682/2023 under section 188, 506,323,171-C IPC at Mahabub Nagar rural police station.
The case was registered after V. Gavinolla Venkat Reddy, a retired government employee, registered a complaint alleging Goud and his henchmen attacked him while he was purchasing provisions. He alleged they bore a grudge that he supported the Congress in the recently held assembly elections.
The counsel for the petitioner informed the court that there was no evidence collected by the police to corroborate the contentions of the defacto complainant. He said the case has been registered against the petitioner just to harass him. He said multiple cases have been registered for the same crime. He sought a direction to quash the FIR.
