Hyderabad: On Thursday, the Telangana High Court Division Bench comprising Chief Justice Ujjal Bhuyan and Justice N Tukaramji issued notices to the state in a petition alleging police interference in a civil case.

The court asked the principal secretary home department, DGP, SP Mahbubabad, and SHO Gudur PS to respond to the notices by August 28.

The Division Bench was responding to a writ petition by advocate Rapolu Bhaskar, who said that his client, Epur Subhash Reddy, a native of Guduru, was forcibly taken in for questioning by the Gudur Police personnel from his Hyderabad office.

As per Bhaskar, Subhash Reddy had approached the advocate to file a civil suit pertaining to a land dispute. Subhash Reddy alleged that the Gudur Police forcibly took Subhash from his office, even as his staff tried to stop the police from doing so. This was done without any prior notice from the police, which is in violation of the law and Supreme Court orders, said Bhaskar.

The case was adjourned to August 28.
