Hyderabad: A sub-inspector (SI) of police allegedly died by suicide by shooting himself with his service weapon at a resort near Mullakatta village in Eturnagaram mandal in Mulugu district in Telangana on Monday morning, police said.
The deceased SI was identified as Rudrarapu Harish who was working at the Vajedu Police Station. Harish was a native of Venkateshwara Palli village in Jayashankar Bhupalpally district.
The incident caused a stir because it happened the day after seven Maoists were killed in the same district during a confrontation with the police. During a firefight with the special anti-Maoist force Greyhounds in the Pulakomma forest area of Eturanagaram mandal, the members of the banned CPI (Maoist) outfit were slain.
Two were killed in same district for being ‘police informers’
Eight days ago, at Penugolu colony in Vajedu mandal of the same district, two villagers Uike Ramesh and Uike Arjun were allegedly killed by the Maoists for being ‘police informers.’ Ramesh was the gram panchayat secretary and was allegedly hacked to death by Maoist rebels. Harish was the SI at the Vajedu Police Station, where the murders occurred.
Based on a preliminary investigation, a police official said the SI is suspected to have ended his life due to personal reasons. The SI reportedly took the extreme step while he was with a woman at Haritha Resort on Sunday. A case was registered and further investigation is on, the police added.
