Telangana’s EAGLE arrests 12 peddlers, seizes narcotics worth Rs 1.09 crore

Hyderabad: In a sweeping crackdown on drug trafficking, Telangana’s Elite Action Group for Drug Law Enforcement (EAGLE), in close coordination with the GRP, RPF and local police, arrested 12 accused and seized narcotics valued at Rs 1.09 crore.
The operations, conducted across multiple districts between August 22 and September 7, exposed interstate smuggling and even a secret drug factory.
Ganja smugglers trapped on trains
The EAGLE Railways Team, supported by GRP and RPF, foiled several attempts to ferry ganja via trains:
August 22, Secunderabad: Four interstate peddlers were caught on the Bhubaneswar–Pune Express with 91 kg of ganja worth Rs 22.75 lakh.
August 27, Secunderabad: One more peddler was nabbed in the same train with 5 kg worth Rs 1.25 lakh.
Warangal team’s string of raids
The Warangal EAGLE Team, along with local police, mounted consecutive operations:
August 28, Konark Express: Three peddlers, including a woman, were caught with 32 kg of ganja worth Rs 8 lakh.
August 30, Vazedu (Mulugu): Two were arrested with 30 kg worth Rs 7.5 lakh.
September 7, Inavolu (Warangal): A massive haul of 214 kg ganja worth Rs 53.5 lakh was seized from a lone trafficker.
Alprazolam unit busted in Sangareddy
On Aug 29, the EAGLE Sangareddy Team, with town police support, dismantled an illegal Alprazolam manufacturing unit.
The raid yielded 270 g of Alprazolam, 7.89 kg Nordiazepam, raw materials and production equipment. The total seizure, including machinery, was valued at Rs 16.31 lakh.
Two persons identified as Goundla Srinivas Goud (38), a repeat offender with past NDPS cases, and Goundla Mallesham (35), a tiffin centre owner, first-time accused, were arrested.
Coordinated action against narcotics
Officials said the series of operations demonstrates the synergy between EAGLE, GRP, RPF and local police, reinforcing the State’s commitment to a drug-free Telangana.
