Hyderabad: The Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Tuesday arrested Narva Harshavardhan Reddy, an Assistant Engineer (Operations) with TGSPDCL at the Gopalpet section in Wanaparthy, after he was caught red-handed while accepting a bribe in his office.
Trap laid after complaint
ACB officials said the action followed a complaint alleging that Reddy had demanded Rs 40,000 to sanction a distribution transformer for agricultural land belonging to the complainant’s relative.
Acting on the tip-off, the ACB laid a trap and apprehended him while accepting Rs 20,000, which was part of the demanded amount.
Tainted cash seized
During the operation, officials recovered the tainted money from Reddy’s possession. The ACB stated that the engineer had abused his official position and performed his duties in an improper and dishonest manner to gain undue advantage.
Judicial custody ordered
Following his arrest, Reddy was produced before the Special Court for ACB Cases in Hyderabad. The court remanded him to judicial custody. For security reasons, the ACB withheld the identity of the complainant.
