Hyderabad: Unidentified persons gained entry into the quarter allotted to Malkajgiri MLA Mynampally Hanmanth Rao at the newly-built modern residential quarters for MLAs in Hyderguda and decamped with gold jewellery and other valuables.
According to the police, the quarter was allotted to the Malkajgiri MLA and one of his close associates had been using it for more than a year. During Sankranti, the family locked the quarter and went to their native place for a week. Strangely, no CCTV cameras were found on the premises.
Two days ago, when they were preparing to attend a function, they found that the gold jewellery kept in one of the cupboards was missing. They searched the house but could not find the jewellery.
On Friday, they lodged a case at the Narayanaguda police station. The police found that the lock had not been broken nor were there any signs of forced entry. They are suspecting the role of some known persons who could have gained entry using a false key and stolen the valuables. It may be noted that the MLA quarters is a highly-secure area and security personnel is deployed round-the-clock. The police have formed a special team to investigate the case.
