Three drug peddlers arrested near IMAX open ground; brown sugar, ganja worth lakhs seized

Hyderabad: Three drug peddlers were arrested while trying to sell brown sugar and dry ganja near the open ground at IMAX.

The sleuths of the Commissioner’s Task Force, Central Zone Team, along with PS Saifabad staff, arrested the three after they were found moving suspiciously during late-night hours and were indulging in illegal procurement and supply of narcotics.

The team seized 100 grams of brown sugar, 1,350 grams of dry ganja, mobile phones and a Honda Motorcycle from them. The total worth of the seized items is said to be Rs 23.5 lakh.

The accused has been identified as Mohd. Gulam Jilani, Suleman Khan and Feroz Bin Ali.

One consumer died from an overdose

During interrogation, Feroz Bin Ali and Suleman Khan confessed that they regularly procured heroin/brown sugar from Mohd. Gulam Jilani in small sachets at the rate of Rs 5,000 per gram, and further sold the same to needy consumers for Rs 8,000 to 10,000 per gram by cash, thereby earning illegal profits.

They further admitted that on November 4, they sold three grams of brown sugar to one Mohd. Ahmed near Rethibowli, for Rs 24,000. Later, it was revealed that Mohd. Ahmed died due to an overdose of the said drug inside Flat No. 805, Kenworth Tower–1, Shivrampally, Hyderabad.

Mohd. Gulam Jilani confessed that he migrated from Jharkhand to Hyderabad a few years ago and started residing with his family.

Due to financial distress, he indulged in procuring and supplying brown sugar and dry ganja. Four months ago, he met Afsar from Odisha at Moula Ali Dargah, who has links with drug suppliers and offered him the deal for easy illegal earnings.

As per his directions, Jilani travelled to Bhubaneswar, where he met Afsar. Both travelled to Jaleshwar and Balasore Districts, where Afsar met Moula.

They procured 115 grams of brown sugar and 1,350 grams of dry ganja by paying Rs 3.5 lakh in cash. Jilani returned to Hyderabad by bus.

He later supplied 15 grams of brown sugar to Suleman Khan and Feroz Bin Ali with instructions to sell the same for Rs 8000 to Rs 10,000 and take Rs 2,000 to Rs 3,000 as commission per gram.

A case has been registered and further investigation is on.
