Hyderabad: Cyberabad police on Wednesday arrested three fake army and police officers for allegedly kidnapping and extorting money from a car dealer at KPHB.

On February 5, Timmireddy Dileep filed a complaint with KPHB police station stating that he is into selling and purchasing second-hand cars.

"I received a call from Pyla Swamy Satyanarayana on January 27 saying he was in need of Rs. 15,000. I asked him to keep his car as collateral. I told him you can take the car when you return the money," he said.

On February 1, he said some persons, who impersonated police officials, came to his office and kidnapped him. He said they took him to Janga Reddy and decamped with Rs 50,000, phone and a car.

Acting on the complaint, police arrested three people including Nagaraju Karthikeya Raghuvarma, a native of Kommuchikkala in West Godavari District of Andhra Pradesh, Deepak Kumar Bora, and Gaddam Anil Kumar. The main accused Pyla Swamy Satyanarayana is absconding.

According to police, Nagaraju Karthikeya Raghuvarma appeared for the army recruitment but was not selected. Since then the accused bought the uniform and is posing as an army officer. He uses fake bravado to extort money from the villagers.

During the investigation, Pudoor police found that Nagaraju Karthikeya Raghuvarma is a fake army officer. He was immediately arrested and sent to remand. Similarly, another accused Nagaraju Karthikeya Raghuvarma posed as a police officer to extort money from gullible people in the city.

Sources said he was asked by the main accused to act as a police officer and extort money and lift the car.

Police have registered a case under section 363, 384, 419, 420 of IPC and sent the accused to remand.
