Hyderabad: Three persons accused of targeting a home and breaking into it have been arrested. The Kukatpally Police, with support from CCS Balanagar Zone, analysed footage from more than 200 cameras and made a breakthrough in the case involving stolen goods worth around Rs 50 lakhs.

The accused have been identified as Sampangi Laxman (44), a car driver; Gummadi Naga Shankar (23), a marketing salesman; and Gummadi Murali (54). All are residents of Krishna district, AP.

The accused broke the door’s lock to enter the house

The crimes came to light after Kamani Madhusudhan Rao (57), a businessman at Sri Sitha Palace, Jayanagar, Kukatpally, lodged a complaint about his home getting robbed.

According to the complaint, on November 28, Madhusudhan Rao locked his house at 5 pm and left for Miyapur to stay with his elder daughter, who had recently delivered a baby. The next day, at 8 am, the complainant’s driver informed him that the apartment watchman noticed that the house door was unlocked. Upon returning, the complainant found the lock broken, the bedroom ransacked, and many valuables stolen.

Modus operandi

Sampangi Laxman and Gummadi Murali were employed as drivers at Prakash Engineering Office in Vivekananda Nagar Colony, Kukatpally. They were also closely acquainted with the complainant’s business partners. Naga Shankar, the son of Gummadi Murali, was also involved in the crime.

A1 and A3 learned that the complainant’s family was staying at their daughter’s house in Miyapur and planned to break into the house and steal all valuables.

On the intervening night of November 29-29, at approximately 1 am, A1 and A2, wearing masks and gloves, arrived at the complainant’s locked house. They carried tools, including an iron rod for breaking the lock. After surveying the surroundings for no witnesses, they broke the central lock of the main door and entered the house. The accused then proceeded to the bedroom, where they forced open the almirah and stole 80 tolas of gold jewellery including necklaces, bangles and rings, and cash worth Rs 2 lakhs.

The valuables were recovered from the accused and a case has been registered.
