Tragedy in Secunderabad: Woman, twins die from suicide due to husband

Hyderabad: In a heart-wrenching incident, a woman and her twin children lost their lives when they jumped from the eighth floor of a building, allegedly due to dowry harassment. The incident occurred at Secunderabad’s Bansilalpet division, GY Reddy Nagar on Monday.

The woman, identified as Sowndarya, hailed from Gandhinagar, while her husband Ganesh, belonged to Uppal Bharath Nagar. The couple had tied the knot in 2019 and had twins, Nitya (a girl) and Nidarsh (a boy).

As per reports, the trouble began when Ganesh started harassing Sowndarya for additional dowry. Unable to bear the constant torment, Sowndarya sought refuge at her parents’ home 15 days ago. During this time, Sowndarya’s parents agreed to provide a plot in Yadagirigutta as part of a compromise, but Ganesh remained dissatisfied and demanded even more money persistently.

On Monday, tragedy struck as Sowndarya, who was residing with her parents in a double-bedroom colony in GY Reddy Basti, went to the balcony and threw her 1.5-year-old children off the building before taking her own life. All three lost their lives upon impact.

Animal Husbandry Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav visited the scene to offer his condolences and support to the grieving parents. The Gandhinagar police have registered a case and initiated an investigation into the matter.
