Hyderabad: A sub-inspector, Kasarla Srinivas (55), and his wife Swaroopa (50) died by suicide in Jangaon district.
According to the police, Srinivas had been working in Jangaon for eight years. On Thursday morning, Swaroopa went to the bathroom and killed herself. When Srinivas woke up and went to the bathroom, he found his wife dead. Friends and relatives who came to know about the incident visited the couple’s home. Later, ACP Devender Reddy and Jangaon town in-charge CI Nagababu arrived at the SI’s residence to investigate.
The officers questioned Srinivas about his wife’s death. Moments later, unable to bear the shock, Srinivas shot himself with his service revolver in the washroom. The ACP and the CI, who heard the sound of gunfire, went to the bathroom and saw that Srinivas had collapsed and died.
DCP P. Seetharam expressed shock and grief over the suicide of the couple. Seetharam revealed that the couple had two children who were employed and living in Hyderabad. Only the couple resided in Jangaon.
On Wednesday night, there was a fight between Srinivas and Swaroopa over family and financial matters. The DCP said more details would be revealed after a complete investigation.
