Hyderabad: A 33-year-old tribal woman from Medak district was allegedly gangraped and murdered, police confirmed on Sunday.

The daily-wage labourer and mother of five was found unconscious with a head injury under a tree in Kulcharam mandal on Saturday morning.

Victim died while being taken to hospital

Locals alerted authorities, and she was first admitted to a local hospital before being referred to a Hyderabad hospital. She succumbed to her injuries during the journey. Police suspect that after the sexual assault, the assailants struck her with a boulder.

Her husband filed a complaint, prompting police to register a case of rape and murder. The victim’s body has been sent for autopsy and investigators are reviewing CCTV footage near the crime scene for clues.
