Hyderabad: Trimulgherry Police have registered a cheating case after an Agniveer aspirant’s family alleged that they were duped by employees of the Military Hospital (MH), who demanded money to ‘manage’ a medical test.
According to police, a written complaint was received on Monday from Banavath Mohan, a farmer and native of Shiva Thanda, Navipet Mandal, Nizamabad District. He stated that his son Banavath Arun had successfully cleared the physical and written examinations for the Agniveer recruitment, but was initially declared unfit in the medical test due to an injury to his left-hand ring finger. He was later advised to undergo a re-medical examination at the Military Hospital, Trimulgherry.
Mohan and his son arrived at the hospital at around 6 am on Monday for the re-medical. Prior to this, they had been in touch with Ravinder, a Hawaldar Nursing Assistant known to the family, who had been transferred to Delhi. Ravinder referred them to another employee at the Military Hospital, Hawaldar Narsimhulu, also working as a Nursing Assistant.
Through WhatsApp communication, Narsimhulu allegedly assured the family that he could get the medical test ‘managed’ and demanded Rs 35,000 for ensuring that Arun would be declared medically fit. Out of fear that their son might once again fail the test, the family agreed.
However, after the re-examination, Arun returned and informed his father that the doctor had checked his injured finger and declared him medically fit, without anyone’s interference. Realising that the result was genuine and not influenced by the accused, the family refused to pay the full amount.
Despite this, Narsimhulu allegedly called Mohan and demanded the agreed amount of Rs 35,000. When the complainant insisted on paying only Rs 5,000 since no help was provided, Narsimhulu arranged a conference call involving another man identified as Chandrasekhar, who said someone would come to collect the money.
Later in the evening, another conference call was made, during which Chandrasekhar introduced a third person named Suman. Mohan was instructed to hand over the money to him.
In evening, the complainant and his son met Suman near Saba Hotel at Thirumalagiri X Road, where they handed over Rs 5,000 in cash. However, Suman reportedly insisted that the full Rs 35,000 must be paid and demanded the remaining Rs 30,000.
Suspecting cheating and pressure tactics, the family approached Trimulgherry Police and filed a complaint.
Based on the complaint, a case has been registered, and police have launched an investigation into the alleged involvement of MH staffers and intermediaries in the fraud.
