Two Andhra DySPs killed, two others injured after their car hit road divider at Khaitapuram
Hyderabad: Two Deputy Superintendents of Police (DySPs) from Andhra Pradesh lost their lives while two other police personnel sustained injuries in a road accident near Khaitapuram in Telanganaās Yadadri district.
The mishap occurred around 5 am on Saturday when the team was en route to Hyderabad from Vijayawada.
Fatal crash during official travel
The victims have been identified as DySPs Chandrakar Rao and Shanta Rao, who died on the spot. The police team was travelling in a car along with Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Prasad and Head Constable Narsing Rao for official duties in Hyderabad.
High-speed collision involving a lorry
According to initial reports, the accident took place at Khaitapuram when their vehicle, reportedly travelling at high speed, hit a road divider. The impact caused the car to veer onto the opposite lane, where it collided with an oncoming lorry. The crash resulted in fatal injuries to both DSPs.
Injured personnel shifted to hospital
Head Constable Narsing Rao and ASP Prasad were injured in the collision and rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment. Narsing Rao was later shifted to a private hospital in LB Nagar, Hyderabad, for specialized care. His condition is said to be critical.
Investigation underway
Rachakonda Police have registered a case and launched an investigation into the incident. A team of senior police officials from Vijayawada also reached Hyderabad to examine the circumstances surrounding the accident.
Authorities are yet to determine the exact cause, but preliminary findings suggest speeding may have been a factor.
