Two arrested in Falaknuma with country-made pistol smuggled from Jharkhand

Hyderabad: Hyderabad police conducted a raid in Falaknuma and arrested two men in possession of a 0.7 calibre country-made pistol.

The accused, Vijay Yadav (25) and Bunty Kumar Yadav (24), were reportedly planning to sell the firearm to anti-social elements in the city at a premium price.

Pistol procured from Jharkhand

The weapon was bought three months ago for Rs 58,000 from a seller identified as Sonu Singh, a resident of Jharkhand, said M Srinivasulu, Additional DCP (SIT & Crimes-DD). “A special team has been formed to apprehend the illegal arms supplier,” he added.

Accused are migrants working in local businesses

During interrogation, Vijay and Bunty revealed that they migrated from Jharkhand and were working as fruit vendors as well as part-time staff at wine shops and bars in Falaknuma and Chandrayangutta.

Authorities are investigating the network behind the illegal sale of firearms in the city and tracking down the supplier, Sonu Singh, to prevent further distribution of weapons.
