Two woman peddlers arrested for smuggling ganja
The accused, Mamidi Ratnam and Lacha Naga Venkata Krishnaveni are residents of Visakhapatnam agency area.
By Newsmeter Network Published on 13 Dec 2020 2:06 PM GMTHyderabad: The sleuths of Rachakonda Police on December 13 apprehended two interstate women Ganja peddlers and seized 18 kgs of Ganja worth Rs 2,28,700.
The accused, Mamidi Ratnam and Lacha Naga Venkata Krishnaveni are residents of Visakhapatnam agency area.
According to police, the accused developed closeness with the Ganja agents in the agency area. Since then both of them used to indulge in illicit transportation and selling the contraband drug to the needy customers and earning easy money.
During the investigation, it was revealed that due to much demand for Ganja in Hyderabad, they planned to extend their business in the surrounding area of the city. According to their plan, about two days ago, both the accused procured 18 kgs of Ganja from their source in Visakhapatnam agency area for the price of Rs.5000 per kg and packed the contraband in 9 packets.
They kept the same in travelling bags underneath their other belongings and came to Hyderabad by bus under the guise of common passengers in order to sell the Ganja to the needy customers at Rs.10,000 per kg.
On December 13 morning, both the accused persons got down the bus in Hyderabad and were waiting at IICT main road, Nacharam in order to meet their customers for selling the Ganja. Meanwhile, on receipt of the credible information, the special operation team, Malkajgiri along with Nacharam Police caught them in possession of 18 kg of Ganja.
The accused persons are handed over to Nacharampolice along with the seized property for further investigation.
