The three have been identified as Pasala Jyothi (33), her daughter Pasala Vennela (19), and Balla Jyothi (27).
Pachipulusu Varalakshmi Kumari had purchased an open plot (267 sq. yards) in Sriramanapuram, Church Colony, Ramantahpur from Sree Raman Co-operative Housing Society. She had constructed a compound wall after purchasing the land. Varalakshmi lived in RK Puram, Kothapet, and visited the plot now and then.
Pasala Jyothi, a resident of Church Colony where the plot was located, noticed the vacant plot and came to know that the owner had not visited the plot for the last four years. With the help of others, she got a fake death certificate issued from Bayyaram gram panchayat in Gajwel, Siddipet district. It said the owner of the land had died on 5 August 2014.
The accused also got a fake Aadhar card that showed she was a resident of Warasiguda in Secunderabad. Jyothi claimed she was the legal heir of Varalakshmi and she executed a gift deed in favour of her daughter Vennela on 3 December 2021.
The scam came to light when Varalakshmi visited her land but Jyothi obstructed her.
Based on a complaint received from the complainant, a case was registered at the Uppal police station. On 24 February the police arrested the three women and produced them before the court on 25 February.
