Uppal tragedy: Truck touches high-tension cable, driver, guide charred to death
By Newsmeter Network Published on 6 May 2021 3:30 AM GMTHyderabad: A driver and a local guide were charred to death when their truck caught fire at Uppal on Wednesday. The vehicle caught fire when it came into contact with an overhead high tension electric cable, police said.
The deceased have been identified as Shehzad,38, and Ganga Sagar, 50. Hailing from Rajasthan, Shehzad was driving the truck and Ganga Sagar was a local guide from Bihar.
According to police, the lorry was transporting six cars to an automobile stock point in the city. While passing through IDA, the driver did not notice a sagging overhead electric cable. As the container height was high, it came into contact with the cable.
The container caught fire and before the driver and the guide could react, flames engulfed the cabin area. Due to the thick smoke, they could not come out and were burnt alive.
Alerted by passersby, fire tenders rushed to the spot and doused the flames. By then the container and six cars were reduced to ashes. Uppal police have registered a case and started the investigation.
