Motor Vehicle Inspector caught on camera accepting bribe at Tadepalligudem
By Newsmeter Network Published on 7 Nov 2020 4:01 AM GMTVijayawada: A Motor Vehicles Inspector (MVI) of the Transport Department was placed under suspension for allegedly demanding bribes from lorry drivers at Tadepalligudem in West Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh.

Identified as E Mrutyumjaya Raju, he was caught on camera accepting bribes from the motorists. He was demanding bribes ranging from Rs 1,000 to Rs 5,000 from the drivers citing various traffic violations. Some drivers filmed E Mrutyumjaya Raju while accepting a bribe.
In the video, Mrutyumjaya Raju was also seen seizing mobile phones of drivers and demanding money for returning the devices.
Transport Commissioner PSR Anjaneyulu said it has come to his notice that Mrutyumjaya Raju indulged in a blatant collection of bribes from the drivers. "Whereas disciplinary proceedings against Mrutyumjaya Raju are contemplated and his continuation in office will prejudice the investigation," he said in the order.
Mrutyumjaya Raju has been asked not to leave headquarters without obtaining permission from the department. During the suspension period, he shall be paid a subsistence allowance as per rules.
