Pallapothu Joshua Kumar, 26, who works as a manager at Lucky Hostel, confronted two armed robbers. On Sunday morning, the motorcycle-borne assailants without number plates posed as lost travelers and sought his help.
As the unsuspecting Kumar attempted to assist them, the situation took a menacing turn when the robbers asked for a cell phone to make a call. Kumar provided them with his cell phone, and they pretended to make a call. After a few minutes, they attempted to escape on their two-wheeler. Kumar swiftly sprang into action, engaging in a fierce struggle with the perpetrators, and took the bike keys from them.
However, the situation took a violent turn when the robbers brandished a knife and attempted to attack Joshua Kumar. Undeterred, he valiantly subdued both assailants. At one moment, they pinned him down and attacked him with a knife.
With the assistance of hostel staff and locals, Joshua managed to detain the perpetrators until the police arrived. Local people witnessed the incident and filmed the entire episode on their mobile phones.
Maduranagar police responded to the scene, where the apprehended robbers were handed over for further investigation. A case has been registered under IPC sections 394 r/w 34 IPC. The police revealed that the accused Balbir Singh and Ram Singh, both residents of Rajiv Gruhakalpa in Kukatpally, have no criminal record.
The courageous actions of Joshua Kumar have garnered widespread acclaim from the local community and police, with many hailing him as a hero for his selfless intervention in thwarting the robbery attempt.
