Girl abducted from Vijayawada railway station traced in Nagpur

Vijayawada: Police have launched an operation after the two-year-old girl and her abductor were caught on CCTV camera at Nagpur railway station.

The girl was abducted near Vijayawada railway station ten days ago.

A police team led by sub-inspector M Durga Maheshwar Rao from Vijayawada, and the city police crime branch squad under sub-inspector Balram Zadiokar launched a search operation, along with Nagpur police.

According to the police, the victim’s family came from Gajol Mandal in West Bengal to Vijayawada in August 2022 in search of work.

They were staying near the parking area of Vijayawada railway station. The elder daughter is studying at Singuri Ashram in Tadepalli.

On April 4, the two-year-old girl was abducted at night when she was sleeping along with her parents at the parking place. Though the parents searched for the girl, they couldn't find her.

A complaint was registered at Satyanarayanapuram police station. Based on the complaint, the Vijayawada police have formed a special team to trace the girl. They took the support of Nagpur police, finding clues about her. CCTV footage showed that the girl was with a woman in Nagpur.

According to the police, CCTV footage showed a woman along with the girl boarding Tirupati Express. Following the clues, the woman was last seen at Nagpur railway station.
