Vijayawada: The Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested an Assistant Labour Commissioner (Central) in Vijayawada while he was demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs. 25,000.
A case was registered after a person raised a complaint against the Labour Commissioner on the allegations that he demanded a bribe of Rs. 30,000 for granting a labour licence to his firm. Later, the bribe was reduced to Rs. 25,000. On this, the CBI laid a trap and caught the accused red handed while accepting the bribe. Further, searches were conducted at the residence and office premises of the accused which led to recovery of incriminating documents.
The accused is being produced before the Special Judge for CBI Cases, Visakhapatnam on Wednesday.
