Visakhapatnam: Girl who was torched by spurned lover succumbs; toll two
A 20-year-old-girl, who was set afire by a jilted lover, succumbed to her wounds in the hospital on Friday.

On November 13, P. Harshavardhan (21), torched V Prathyusha and later immolated himself in a private lodge at Suryabagh in Visakhapatnam. Both were admitted into KGH with burn injuries. Harshavardhan succumbed to wounds on Tuesday.
Inspector of Two- Town Police Station K. Venkat Rao said doctors from KGH declared the girl dead at around 11 am on Friday. Postmortem has been conducted and the body has been handed over to the kin, he said.
It may be recalled that Harshavardhan from Bhupalapalle, Telangana, and the girl from Visakhapatnam were pursuing B.Tech in a renowned college in Punjab.
Since the COVID-19 pandemic, they were attending online classes from home. As per the girl's statement, she treated Harshavardhan as one of her friends. However, he had been proposing to her which she rejected.
Harshavardhan had come to Visakhapatnam on November 12. On November 13, both met at a lodge and after which Harshavardhan allegedly set her ablaze. Later, he set himself afire.
In his statement, he had claimed that the duo was in a relationship earlier, but lately, she had started avoiding him.
