Vizag: 4DO baby abducted from KGH; police form special teams

Visakhapatnam: A 4-day-old girl was kidnapped from the gynecology ward of the King George Hospital (KGH) on Wednesday evening. The family said a woman entered the ward and took the baby for tests. The baby's grandmother and uncle assumed her to be a staff at KGH. When the woman failed to return, they informed the ward staff. KGH attained notoriety for infant kidnappings in 2014 and 2019.

One-Town Police rushed to the hospital and checked the CCTV footage. Police suspected that there are more than three people involved in the crime. According to One-Town police, on March 17, at around 7,25 pm, the infant baby of 21-year-old K Appayamma of Routhapalem in Padmanabham Mandal, was allegedly kidnapped by a woman after four days of her birth.

CCTV footage showed a woman coming out of the ward with a baby. Since CCTVs in the other departments are not working, police are checking the CCTV visuals in the surrounding areas.

Sources said one woman in ash color churidar and another in red or orange color saree were allegedly involved in the kidnap. Soon after the kidnapping, the duo boarded the auto-rickshaw at KGH and alighted near Gurudwara Junction in Vizag. One Town police have deployed special teams and alerted all police stations to trace the baby and the kidnappers involved in the case.
