Visakhapatnam: Police have launched a massive manhunt to nab a metropolitan magistrate, her sister, and a woman sub-inspector for allegedly plotting to kill a realtor.
It may be recalled that two unidentified bike-borne persons tried to kill realtor P Rajesh in Vizag on June 18. Rajesh escaped with injuries after they attacked him with an iron hammer under MR Peta police station limits.
MR Peta circle inspector G Soma Sekhar identified the bike used in the commission of a crime. Later they nabbed eight persons including police constable Pramod.
Investigation revealed that Bhimli magistrate Vijayalakshmi, her sister Nagamani and driver Appala Reddy were also involved in the case.
"We included the names of Vijayalakshmi and Nagamani as accused in the remand report, '' the CI said.
Rajesh was an associate of the magistrate and her sister. Both the sisters and their driver are absconding after the incident. There were no financial transactions and land disputes between the victim and the sisters. Rajesh had allegedly abused the sisters a few months ago and that was the reason they developed a grudge against him.
Pramod and another accused Tarun had confessed that they were engaged by the sisters to attack Rajesh. Police said that the magistrate and her sister approached the AP High Court for anticipatory bail.
Police have sought legal advice to arrest the magistrate. So far, they didn't get any concrete clues to locate the sisters and the driver.
