Visakhapatnam: Twenty-year-old second-year student of IIT-Hyderabad (IIT-H) D Karthik, who had gone missing from the Sangareddy campus on July 17, was found dead in Vizag on Tuesday.
Police suspected that Karthik, who was struggling to clear his three backlogs, might have ended his life by jumping into the sea under Arilova police station limits in the city.
The body was found near Jodugullapalem beach in Visakhapatnam on Tuesday morning. The body was shifted to King George Hospital for the post-mortem.
It may be recalled that the last known location of Karthik was at Vizag’s RK beach on July 19 where he bought a bun online. Though Vizag police searched for Karthik, their efforts proved futile. Karthik hailed from the Nalgonda district of Telangana. He was a second-year B.Tech (mechanical stream) student at IIT-H.
Karthik’s family members claimed that he was a brilliant student and the first tribal from their small village to study at the prestigious IIT.
